WHAT IS CONSUMPTION AND HOW ITS CALCULATED

CONSUMPTION:

Consumption, in general terms, refers to the process of using or utilizing something. In the context of fabric and clothing production, consumption specifically refers to the amount of fabric or materials needed to create a particular garment, such as a t-shirt.

FABRIC CONSUMPTION:

Fabric consumption is an essential aspect of garment production as it determines the amount of fabric required to make each piece, and it directly affects the cost and efficiency of the manufacturing process.

To calculate the fabric consumption of a t-shirt, you'll need the following information:

Fabric Width:

The width of the fabric is in inches or centimeters.

T-Shirt Pattern:

The pattern size and style of the t-shirt.

Shrinkage Allowance:

The percentage of shrinkage expected during washing or finishing.

Seam Allowance:

The additional fabric was added for seams.

With this information, you can use the following formula to find the fabric consumption of a t-shirt:

Fabric Consumption (in square units) = (Front Length + Back Length + Half Chest + Seam Allowance) x (Sleeve Length + Half Sleeve Width + Seam Allowance) x 2 x (1 + Shrinkage Allowance) / Fabric Width.

Remember to use consistent units for all measurements to get accurate results in the same unit (e.g., inches or centimeters). Additionally, this formula assumes a standard t-shirt design; more complex styles may require additional adjustments to the formula.
